UK Plumber Training Examined

We often read in the press of the salaries that the Plumbing trade is achieving. Salaries of 30-70k p.a. are often discussed, along with the lack of plumbers within the UK. The question now is – are we being lied to, or is this the truth? For the competent and correctly skilled person, this level of salary is realistic. In fact, earnings in excess of 70 – 100k p.a. are achievable – but that is solely for those who work within the self-employed market-place, rather than those who work within established employment routes.

However, working for regular employers often results in the typical hours of Monday to Friday, 9am to 6pm. Approximately wages of 15k and 30k p.a. are reasonable within the UK, along with standard benefits such as holiday pay and sickness allowance. A self-employed person can earn more money than this traditional approach, but will often need to work outside of the Mon- Fri, 9am to 6pm example. For example in the domestic sector where clients are often at work during the working day, self employed plumbers are regularly required to work during evening and weekend visits.

Also there is the factor of self-employment and whether it goes with some people more than others. By using ‘good business sense’, including getting your own cost per hour correct, items such as advertising and marketing can also be worked out. CompTIA Retraining In The UK – Options

There are four A+ exams and sections to study, but you only have to get your exams in 2 of them to qualify for your A+. Because of this, many educational establishments restrict their course to just 2 areas. But allowing you to learn about all 4 options will equip you with a much wider knowledge and understanding of the subject, which you’ll come to realise is essential in the working environment.

Qualifying in CompTIA A+ on its own will set you up to fix and maintain stand-alone PC’s and MAC’s; ones that are most often not part of a network – essentially the domestic or small business sector.

It could be a good idea to consider supplementing the A+ with Network + as it will enable you to take care of computer networks, which is where the bigger salaries are.

A ridiculously large number of organisations only look at the plaque to hang on your wall, and completely miss what you actually need – which is a commercial career or job. Always begin with the end goal – don’t make the vehicle more important than the destination.

Never let yourself become part of that group who select a program that seems ‘fun’ or ‘interesting’ – and get to the final hurdle of an accreditation for a job they hate.

Get to grips with what you want to earn and what level of ambition fits you. This can often control what precise qualifications you’ll need to attain and what industry will expect from you in return.

All students are advised to speak to an industry professional before they embark on a training program. This is required to ensure it has the required elements for the career that is sought.

Many people assume that the state educational system is the right way even now. So why then are commercial certificates slowly and steadily replacing it?

With university education costs spiralling out of control, along with the industry’s general opinion that corporate based study is closer to the mark commercially, we’ve seen a dramatic increase in Adobe, Microsoft, CISCO and CompTIA accredited training routes that supply key solutions to a student at a fraction of the cost and time involved.

Of course, a reasonable portion of relevant additional detail has to be taught, but focused specifics in the required areas gives a commercially educated student a real head start.

The bottom line is: Accredited IT qualifications give employers exactly what they’re looking for – the title is a complete giveaway: i.e. I am a ‘Microsoft Certified Professional’ in ‘Windows XP Administration and Configuration’. So employers can identify exactly what they need and what certifications will be suitable to deal with those needs.

Many training companies will provide a useful Job Placement Assistance program, to help you into your first commercial role. Don’t get overly impressed with this service – it’s easy for training companies to overplay it. At the end of the day, the need for well trained IT people in Great Britain is what will make you attractive to employers.

Help with your CV and interview techniques may be available (alternatively, check out one of our sites for help). Ensure you update that dusty old CV right away – not after you’ve qualified!

It’s not uncommon to find that junior support roles have been offered to students who are still learning and haven’t got any qualifications yet. This will at least get you into the ‘maybe’ pile of CV’s – rather than the ‘No’ pile.

Generally, you’ll receive better performance from a local IT focused recruitment consultant or service than you will through a training provider’s national service, as they’ll know the local area and commercial needs better.

In a nutshell, as long as you focus the same level of energy into securing your first IT position as into training, you won’t find it too challenging. A number of men and women bizarrely spend hundreds of hours on their course materials and then just stop once certified and appear to be under the impression that jobs will come to them.

It’s abundantly clear: There’s pretty much no personal job security now; there’s really only industry or business security – a company will fire a solitary member of staff if it fits their commercial needs.

Where there are rising skills shortfalls coupled with growing demand of course, we often discover a newly emerging type of security in the marketplace; driven by the constant growth conditions, businesses are struggling to hire enough staff.

MCSA-MCSE Career Training Described

Does an MCSE appeal to you? If the answer’s ‘yes’, there’s a good chance that you’ll fall into one of the following categories: You are a knowledgeable person and you’d like to gain accreditation with an MCSE. In contrast this might be your initial foray into the computer workplace, and your research tells you that there are many opportunities for people with the right qualifications.

As you try to find out more, you’ll come across training companies that short-change you by not upgrading their courses to the current Microsoft version. Avoid these companies as you’ll have problems with the present exams. If you are studying the wrong version, it is going to be hugely difficult to get qualified.

Watch out for training colleges who are just trying to sell you something. Always remember that purchasing a course to qualify for an MCSE is much like purchasing a vehicle. They’re not all the same; some are comfortable and reliable, whilst some will be completely unreliable. A conscientious organisation will spend time understanding your needs to be sure the course will work for you. When providers are proud of their courses, they’ll show you examples of it prior to registering.

Most trainers only provide support to you inside of office hours (typically 9am-6pm) and sometimes a little earlier or later; It’s rare to find someone who offers late evening or full weekend cover.

Find a good quality service where you can access help at any time you choose (even 1am on Sunday morning!) Make sure it’s always 24×7 direct access to mentors and instructors, and not a message system as this will slow you down – parked in a queue of others waiting to be called back at a convenient time for them.

World-class organisations tend to use an online 24 hours-a-day system pulling in several support offices across the globe. You will have an interface which switches seamlessly to the best choice of centres any time of the day or night: Support when you need it.

Of course: a training course or an accreditation is not the ultimate goal; a job you’re training for is. A lot of colleges seem to over-emphasise the qualification itself.

Don’t let yourself become one of the unfortunate masses that choose a course which looks like it could be fun – only to end up with a qualification for a career they’ll never really get any satisfaction from.

Never let your focus stray from where you want to go, and formulate your training based on that – not the other way round. Stay focused on the end-goal – making sure you’re training for something you’ll enjoy for years to come.

It’s worth seeking guidance from someone who knows the commercial realities of the market you’re considering, and who can offer ‘A day in the life of’ type of explanation for that career-path. This really is very important as you’ll need to fully understand if you’re going down the right road.
