How To Use Anger Management To Prevent Violence At Home.

Owen Jones | November 24, 2011

How is anger management connected to domestic violence? Put simply, most people that abuse their partner in this type of situation, are angry due to an anti-social disorder in that person’s subconscious mind. Anger is one of the main characteristics of personality disorder, including paranoia, schizophrenia, schizoid, antisocial, psychopathic, histrionic and sociopathic personalities.

Many people that are abusive in relationships have anti-social personalities. The anti-social personality type of person often attacks when he or she is drunk or under the influence of some drug or other. This is not true in all cases of course, but it is true in most circumstances. Anti-social personality types often disregard rules and regulations and usually feel that they have the right to do so. Anti-social personality types are control freaks and if you do not allow their authority, they often vent their anger in a controlling or violent manner.

Anti-social types will often humiliate, intimidate, brutally physically abuse and mentally belittle their spouse, but the domestic abuse does not usually stop there. This type of individual has never proven to be likely to respond to anger management techniques. In other words, men that batter their wives will usually continue to do so until someone gets seriously injured. It is not a good idea to get involved with this type of person, as there is rarely any hope at all of them controlling their anger. This type will often beat a spouse, until they only want to kill them. This means someone could die, since this sort of person will become angrier and angrier as the years pass and will rarely seek anger management help with their domestic violence.

Even if he or she does get anger management help for domestic violence, it often fails. It is not recommended to start a relationship with this type of person. The signs are an unkempt appearance or wild expressions, laughing for no apparent purpose, laughing at a situation where a person was humiliated, outbursts of anger for no reason et cetera. This type of person is superficial and will often lead you to believe that he or she is a model to society, when behind closed doors the brute appears.

Of course, hatred is the underlying cause of this person’s anger, and hate has been proven to kill. Often deep-seated jealousy also underlies the anger issues within these types of people. Many of these angry people take drugs, including cocaine, crack, marijuana and others. They often exceed the safety limit of alcohol consumption and this only increases the odds of them flying into a rage.

An example of bad anger management and domestic violence can be seen in a small town called Dowagiac in Michigan, a man tried to kill several women but was still allowed to go free. Little anger management help was provided to this person and often his furious attacks were simply because he felt that he could not control his victims. The victims were left without justice and a few even believed that they could change his angry ways.

Within a short time, he was sitting in the county gaol on a number of charges, including assault of a police officer and hit and run. The police, according to witnesses, claim that the criminal had had a weapon and was drunk when he tried to elude arrest and marijuana was found in his vehicle. This person had a long-standing record of violence but the justice system let those victims down, which led to more anger management problems.

Another example of anger is in borderline personality types. These people, when feeling abandoned, will attack others. Sometimes they are physically abusive, but most of the time they are verbally and mentally abusive. The spouse has only to go to work and when he or she returns home, they will be accused of doing something wrong.

The abusive person with anger management problems might even call the workplace of the partner numerous times to check that he or she is not spending time with someone else. This is another type of domestic violence from an angry person that seldom gets better, and like the anti-social personality types, these people are dangerous and manipulative.

Paranoid personality types are also dangerous and manipulative but their anger is almost impossible to predict. In most cases, these types react to voices heard inside or outside their head. Like the antisocial types, the paranoid type rarely has justifiable reason for their behaviour. Usually, it is merely a control issue. This means that if the victim is uncontrollable, the paranoid person will react angrily and violently.

Liberating Oneself From The Clutches Of Carnal Thoughts

Gary Luroid | September 17, 2011

The definition of addiction today has gone beyond mere drug dependence. Continuation of a particular behavior despite one’s awareness of its negative consequences to his or her life’s social, academic, financial, psychological, or physical aspects is a distinguishing factor of addiction. Sex and watching indecent material videos are examples of these activities. These compulsions besmear a Christian’s purity.

A Christian’s sexual addiction is a very sad thought. These compulsions may have dirtied a Christian’s purity but it is never too late to bring a lost sheep back into the fold. Prior to discussing what one can do to address or avoid the problem, it is more sensible to first have an understanding of the reasons why a person succumbs to these temptations. A Christian’s addiction to sexual activity and indecent material materials, stems from a number of issues, being raised in a broken home for instance. Preoccupation to sex or indecent material often starts early in a person’s life. As a child coming from a dysfunctional family grows older, he or she would turn to other people or other activities to get affirmation and warmth otherwise not provided or felt from their immediate family.

The problem occurs when the person ends up believing that sex and watching indecent material are the only ways on how to meet those needs. People who experienced abuses in any form earlier in life are also at risk of developing these compulsions as are those with low self-esteem. Believing they are unclean or unworthy of love from others, they turn to pleasuring themselves instead.

Pundits are yet to arrive at a general opinion with regards to the reasons behind these compulsions. Some believe that sufferers of sex and indecent material addiction have an underlying obsessive compulsive disorder or other psychological problems. Like drug dependence, tolerance is also applicable to sexual addiction. Sufferers over the years may act out their compulsions in other ways, like having multiple affairs and developing fetishes and other risk behaviors. A person preoccupied with sex or indecent material can have problems maintaining employment or relationships.

Going to a psychologist or participating in the discussions of a self-help group can be a good way to address the problem. Some of these programs help you establish faith in a higher power. Acknowledging that one has a problem is the first step to recovery. Avoidance and abstinence will be difficult for addicts, but nonetheless doable. Not staying in a room without a companion as well as engaging in physical activity are some of them. A new hobby or going out with friends can help take one’s mind off of these temptations.

It is disheartening to hear of a Christian Addiction to sex and indecent material. Even though their Christian Purity is tarnished, they can still be guided back to the right path. Know what drives sex and indecent material addicts to such an unfortunate state by clicking here.

The Symptoms Of Ovarian Cancer: Can You Trust Them?

Owen Jones | July 4, 2011

The symptoms of ovarian cancer are fairly problematic to recognize regrettably. This is because they are similar to the indications of regular menstruation or menopause that many (or most) women experience frequently anyway. The chance that women who still menstruate have, is if they notice that some of the regular feelings are not quite right.

Menopausal women have a bigger problem because they are new to their condition and it is so erratic anyway. The indications of ovarian cancer include: abdominal pain, a feeling of being bloated, twinges and tiredness.

That is why it is so difficult to use these symptoms as predictors or ovarian cancer. However, if you have these indications at a time when you would not normally do so, or if they last longer than usual, then it would be worth checking with a doctor or your gynecologist.

If you are concerned, naturally, you will need to get a check up, but if you are ‘umming and ahhing’, try to find out whether someone in your family has had ovarian cancer before. There is a tendency for it to run in families, but that is a fact or most forms of cancer really.

However, if you are looking into your family’s history of cancer, bear in mind that cancer can out itself in different ways. for example, a man obviously cannot get ovarian cancer, but if your dad died of cancer you have an increased likelihood as well, albeit it in possibly another kind.

Age is another issue in the chances of someone having this kind of cancer – the older the more likely to be expected. There is also another bizarre twist here. Women who have had several children are least at risk, women who have chosen not to have children are more at danger, and women who have always been incapable of having children are most at risk.

The fact is that this is such a difficult form of cancer to home-diagnose that it is scarcely worth the trouble. You have to listen to your body and trust your gut feelings. If things are not the same as you are used to, go and have a check up as soon as possible.

Apart from that, go for a ordinary check up anyway. Different countries have different recommendations, but whatever advice that your doctor or gynecologist gives you, you should follow. Ovarian cancer can be treated successfully and not only that but if it is caught early enough in young women, treatment does not necessarily mean loss of fertility.

So, the byword is do not miss your check ups. Almost 75% of women who are diagnosed early can expect a complete recovery. Young women have an even higher chance than older women, which means that older women should go for check ups more often than younger women.

Do not be apathetic about this form of cancer even though the symptoms of ovarian cancer are not simple to recognize, in fact that is a very good reason for you to let an expert check you out. The tests are not invasive and consist of merely a blood test and an ultra sound scan.

Thyroid Cancer – The Four Types

Owen Jones | May 12, 2011

Thyroid cancer (cancer of the thyroid gland) comes in four variations: papillary, follicular, medullary and anaplastic. Papillary and medullary are slow-developing and sometimes return, but respond well to treatment in patients under middle age.

Medullary also reacts well to therapy, if it has not already spread. Anaplastic developes quickly and responds badly to therapy. The spread of these kinds of cancer is not uniform throughout the world, but is roughly: 78% for papillary; 17% for follicular; 4% for medullary and 1% for anaplastic.

Usually, the first symptom of a problem is the growth of a nodule or nodules in the neck in close proximity to the thyroid gland. However, only 5% of these are malignant. Sometimes an early warning sign is discomfort or even pain; sometimes, the lymph nodes swell, the voice alters or there is hypo- or hyper- thyroidism.

Discovery usually takes place after a nodule is discovered during a (general) physical examination. The patient is then referred to an endocrinologist or a thyroidologist, who will arrange an ultrasound test or a biopsy. Using a thin needle enough cells can be gathered to do an accurate test on the precise condition of the thyroid and whether the nodules are cancerous.

Papillary thyroid cancer more frequently takes place in women and often in the 30-40 year old age group and is frequently characterized by bulging eyes. If the growth is less than 1cm in size a partial thyroidectomy or hemithyroidectomy would probably be recommended.

Above 1cm and a full thyroidectomy is preferred. Some surgeons would rather a full thyroidectomy anyway because the cancer cannot come back then.

Follicular thyroid cancer is more common in women over 50 years of age. Therapy is most often full thyroidectomy as the threat of recurrence of this aggressive form is quite big for partial surgery.

Medullary thyroid cancer (MTC) starts in the cells that produce the hormone calcitonin. Increased degrees of calcitonin in the blood are a realistic indication of MTC, although these elevated levels of calcitonin are probably not harmful in themselves.

Changes in the DNA concerned in cell growth and development are responsible for nearly all cases of hereditary or familial medullary thyroid carcinoma. Hereditary medullary thyroid cancer is inherited as a 50/50 probability from each affected parent. DNA analysis makes it feasible to identify children who carry the mutant gene.

Surgical removal of the thyroid in children who carry the mutant gene is effective if the entire thyroid gland is removed at an early age, before there is a spread of the tumor. Hereditary MTC accounts for around 25% of all cases of MTC. The other 75% of cases are called sporadic MTC and normally occur in older patients.

Frequently the disease is well advanced in these cases as there has been no screening as in hereditary MTC. The first sign is frequently diarhoea. The likelihood of surviving MTC seem to be linked to the rate at which the patient?s post operative calcitonin levels double.

Anaplastic thyroid cancer is highly aggressive and likelihood of survival are almost zero. It is resistant to all known cancer medications and invades nearby tissue rapidly.

How To Plan The Landscaping Of Your Garden

Owen Jones | May 1, 2011

Landscaping techniques permit the gardener to transform a simple backyard into a lovely garden. There are many routes to having a stunning garden, because there are many types to choose from and there are different tastes too. Chaque un a son gout. Some styles of garden require a great deal of looking after and others less so, but even a slabbed or concrete backyard needs some maintenance.

The best method of going about making something beautiful out of your backyard is planning and perhaps the easiest way of planning is to produce a plan or a drawing of your garden.

If you choose this course, the first thing you will have to do is get some graph paper and plot the exact dimensions and form of your garden onto it, with as large a scale as will fit on the sheet of graph paper.

When you have done that, put in in unmovable items like a brick shed, a drain or septic tank, a fish pond and doorways et cetera. Then you ought to photocopy it, say five or ten times. This is in order that you can make errors, change your mind or even allow everybody in the house to make their own plan from their own research and imagination.

If you think that this is outside your skills, you are almost certainly wrong. It really is not hard, children draw on graph paper all the time in maths lessons. Nevertheless, if you do not want to do it this way, then you will need to rely on plans cut out of magazines.

So, collect all your ideas from magazines and put them in a file. Likewise, if you are making a plan on paper, collect your ideas in a folder, but also mark them on your graph paper.

Set yourself or your team a deadline of say, a fortnightly or a month, but you do need to do the majority of your work in the spring or the summer, when the weather is decent. On the appointed day, get together and combine all your plans into one.

Put all the redundant material apart and forget about it. Do not over complicate the matter by having all the designs in the active file. Now you are prepared to go to work and instigate the plans.

The choice is now whether you do the work yourself or whether you get a builder in. A builder will have experience, and so will be able to get the job done quickly. They will also be able to offer practical suggestions, if what you want to achieve is difficult. The other side of the coin is that it is a lot more expensive.

If you decide to do it yourself, you might find it a good idea to split your plan into sections. It could be done in quarters of the garden at a time, if that is practicable, or you could do all the groundwork first, followed by the brick and blockwork, then the pond etc. Depending on your plan. The only thing that really has to be done last is the planting of the plants
