Jobs And Certification In The Software Industry
Ruther Schlinger | September 14, 2011We live in a world that is being gradually flattened by technology. Our society and culture is supported and driven by technology. Most, if not all, of our modern industries are, to some extent, controlled by software. In fact, everything that makes our lives better relies on software. In the last decade, we have seen software take over the driving seat. Without the computing and software industry, the growth it spawned since its inception would never have been possible.
The software industry is one of the fastest growing sectors, and has been for a decade. Jobs in the software sector are some of the best paying ones. If you still haven’t, you should consider a career in software. When people think of software related jobs, they only thing of programming. That is but one aspect, the software industry needs programmers or developers, testers, computer scientists, graphic designers and many more.
Because of the complexity and specific nature of computer, or software related jobs, you will find several certification programs available. These help you be at par with anyone else who has the knowledge of the same language. To clarify it with an example, HP has something called Quality Center. It is a very good tool used for software lifecycle management. Other computing giants such as Sun and Cisco have their own certification programs, specifically for networking. These tools aren’t limited to these specific companies; in fact, almost everyone in the industry uses these. Hence, it would be beneficial to apply for Quality Center training.
Quality Center has undergone several changes and, from the version 11, HP has renamed it to Application Lifecycle Management (ALM). As obvious, it also has a certification course and training. Those who are certified are in high demand in today’s climate. Software giants are hiring these people aggressively. Note that the certification exam for Quality Center is not easy and not everyone qualifies in the first attempt.
If you are interested in getting certified for Quality Center, you have to take it seriously and prepare hard. Mock tests and quizzes can be really helpful, not just for Quality Center certification tests but for any similar certification. Remember, software is an intellectual product, a product of pure logic. Therefore training smart is just as important as training hard.
